Pearl Mackie to read Cbeebies Bedtime stories
In a special Christmas treat for the youngest Doctor Who fans, Pearl Mackie will be reading you a bedtime story this Christmas. To make this news even better, Pearl will be appearing twice over the festive period to read the little ones to sleep.
Her first appearance is an important one too, taking place on Christmas Eve. How will Santa deliver the presents if we don’t get a good nights sleep, right? She follows other celebrity bedtime story readers such as Tom Hardy and Captain America, Chris Evans. It’s appropriate that Pearl also get to read a sci-fi fairy tale on Christmas Eve. The story for Christmas Eve is Interstellar Cinderella by Deborah Underwood and Meg Hunt.
The next time we see Pearl will be on Christmas Day for the Doctor Who Christmas Special, Twice Upon a Time. But she will be back over the festive period with another Bedtime Story on CBeebies.
Pearl is back in 2018, she is the first Bedtime Story of the year on New Year’s Day. On this occasion, she will be reading Ellie’s Magic Wellies by Amy Sparkes and Nick East. This delightful tale features a strange creature that might just fit into the world of Doctor Who called a Flibberty-Gibberty.
It’s good to see Pearl gracing our screens around the festive period, and it seems there is lots of great programming with Doctor Who links this Christmas. And special guest readers for Christmas Day and Boxing Day have not yet been announced. Maybe there could be more big names from Doctor Who involved?
We recently interviewed the writer of Pearl’s other new role in Guardian podcast drama, Adulting. That interview can be read here.
And if you can’t wait until Christmas Day for more Bill Potts you can get the Series 10 boxset.
