Below we decide our favourite 2nd doctor episode for Patrick Troughton month on the website. Please be aware we have not included the 8 missing episodes from this era of the show.
13. The dominators
A god awful episode, which is very rare in the early years of the show as there are quite a few classics. This is so boring and so rubbish that it is hard to bear for a whole five parts.
12. The krotons
Not as bad as people may say-but it is not a classic really. The krotons are relatively memorable-and there is a good idea behind this story, but it is quite forgettable for me.
11. The underwater menace
This story is okay-but it is not that great. A quite recently watched episode from me-the underwater menace has some memorable scenes inside-but fails to make it to my top 10.
10. The mind robber
Quite a silly story in respective-but is a very enjoyable episode for me. There may be some errors in the script-but I find this quite a cool jewel from the 2nd doctor era of the show. A very interesting episode.
9. The ice warriors
At number 9 comes the first story to feature one of the most memorable doctor who villains-the ice warriors. This is one of their weaker stories as monsters, even though this still is a classic story.
8. The moonbase
There were four episodes with the cybermen in the 2nd doctor era-and I would say this is the worst of them. This is still very good, but no competitor to both the tomb of the cybermen and the invasion.
7. The seeds of death
I love the seeds of death-and I think that it is such a shame that it has to come to number 7 in the charts. Because there are some other brilliant episodes, this episode has to be ranked lower than deserved
6. The web of fear
The web of fear is a brilliant episode. Set in the London underground, this atmospheric story is one of my Troughton favourites-but still sadly fails to reach the top 5 of our charts.
5. The enemy of the world
The enemy of the world is very clever, and is one of the hidden classics from the 2nd doctor era. This is a story which develops through the episodes-and creates a very great scenery with some brilliant new characters
4. Tomb of the cybermen
Regarded as a classic by many fans, the tomb of the cybermen ranks fourth in my chart. I believe this is a classic episode with so many memorable moments-but there are some scenes which make me consider this as a tiny bit overrated.
3. The invasion
As an eight part epic, I love this story. I do love the epic episodes of doctor who the most, and the invasion is a perfect example. The cybermen are very creepy and UNIT are introduced as full time members.
2. The power of the daleks
Recently revived in the past year as an animation, this is one of my favourite stories of all time. The story, the characters, the writing and the animation are all strong parts that make this the second best dalek story, behind genesis.
1. The war games
Obviously. The war games is possibly in my top 5 stories of all time, and is the best story of the 60's and the Patrick Troughton years. It is an epic and classic conclusion to the 2nd doctor's time on the show.
